Define Application Software 

Applications, or apps, are programs designed to assist a technology user in everyday tasks. These tasks can include paying bills, shopping, computing taxes, creating a list for specific items.  There are many types of apps, but the main three that we will cover here are, Desktop apps, Web apps, and Mobile apps.

Desktop apps are apps that are generally stored on our desktop computer at home and are generally used for educational, financial, or entertainment. Word processing, formal letters and printing are other apps that are used on our Desktop computers. Many of these apps are also used on Laptop computers.

Web apps are apps that are utilized by an online server or website that is specifically created to be used on or in conjunction with programs contained on the website. These apps are generally accessed via your web browser. Search engines are a good example of Web apps.

Mobile apps are apps that are downloaded to your smartphone or tablet device. some can be used as both a Web app and Mobile app, but generally mobile apps are created to work specifically on smartphone and tablet screens. Mobile apps usually support touch-screen technology while some Web apps do not. the two main Operating Systems that use mobile apps are the Iphone and Android.
